March 20th and 21st, 2026
Multiple shift options available---1/2 day or full day. No experience required, but is always welcome!
Volunteers to assist with any aspect of the tournament---Lane Officials/Line Judge, registration check-in, set-up and take-down and more. Approximately 5000 students will participate and shoot throughout the 2 days.

Texas Wildlife Association's Adult Learn to Hunt Program focuses on introducing novice hunters interested in forging a connection between conservation, hunting and sustainable eating. Participants will also learn valuable skills related to skinning, butchering and cooking techniques associated with wild game. Upon applying to the program, applications will be reviewed, and hunters will be contacted once chosen to participate.

The diving clean up will take place prior to our annual pool cleaning from April 21st-May 9th, 2025. We would need assistance with clearing out rocks and debris from the gate near the high dive. As well as collecting any items at the bottom of the pool that are not naturally there.

Required:
Applicant must be at least 18 yrs. and must be able to pass a criminal back ground check.

Must have a valid Diver Certification Card.

Overview //

Pool/Spring cleaning will be on May 5-9th, 2025. Volunteers will assist with scraping, shoveling, and power washing algae out of the pool. Will help paint areas/stain fence that need to be painted/stained, clean bath houses, trash removal, netting fish, weed eating, cutting reeds, and replace picnic tables. Will be working outdoors, even if there is inclement weather. The hours may vary.

Required:
Applicant must be at least 18 yrs. and must be able to pass a criminal back ground check.

Overview //

Volunteer will remove dead plants, water, trim, and make sure that the park plants are healthy and groomed. Must have experience in gardening and/or landscaping. Must also have adequate knowledge of desert plants that are native to and non-native to the Chihuahuan Desert.

Overview //

Basic duties may include: campground checks, janitorial duties, roving patrol in pool area, light maintenance, customer service, supporting office staff, assisting after-hours check-ins, etc. 32 hrs/week/couple, 24 hrs/week/individual. Work days/shifts may vary but can usually be tailored to park host's schedules.

Help our team steward and protect this unique Texas State Park for use today and by future generations. You can spend time in a beautiful place while assisting the park with critical operations. Volunteers are our greatest natural resource!

To meet our business needs, we are looking for park hosts who can go beyond basic campground duties to contribute in one of the following areas:
- carpentry skills
- masonry skills
- front desk duties
- interpretation (leading engaging walks and talks and tours)

Requirements: Must be 18 or over. Pass a Criminal Background Check, provided references, and examples of carpentry/ masonry work. Important Notes: Balmorhea State park is located in a remote area. Cellular coverage can be limited however, Verizon wireless works well in the park. Park hours are from 8Am till 7:30 PM, most of the Park Host shifts will take place in the later hours of the afternoon through the evening. The park will offer laundry facilities for Park Hosts to use in the near future.

Welcome to the Other Side of Nowhere! Big Bend Ranch State Park offers outdoor recreation for the truly adventurous. This remote park features rugged mountains, steep canyons, amazing views, unparalleled night skies, and solitude in a desert setting. Help our team steward and protect this unique Texas State Park for use today and by future generations.

Hosts will assist with day-to-day operations including visitor services, maintenance, facility clean-up, special events and other duties as needed.

We have 1 park host campsite available with full hook-ups (Sites have 15,30, & 50 amp outlets.)

This position requires a minimum commitment of 4 months.

Reports directly to Sauceda Ranger Station/ Interior Superintendent.

Requirements: Must be 18 or older. Pass a Criminal Background Check, ATV/UTV online training, and complete Distracted Driving course. Must be able to work a minimum of 32 hours a week. Must adhere to all TPWD policies.

Please be aware that Big Bend Ranch State Park is in an extremely remote and rugged part of the Chihuahuan Desert. For scale, the nearest Walmart is located approximately 4.5 hours away from this location. Cell Phone Service is unreliable and at times non-existent in the park. This role is labor intensive and many park interior roads are 4 WD and unmaintained; therefore, it is imperative that the successful candidate be able to comfortably navigate and travel in a remote and rugged setting.

Under the supervision of our trails maintenance ranger, trail volunteers carry out maintenance work on some of the park''s 200-mile trail system.

Trail and project difficulty range from moderate to advanced. The successful Trails Volunteer will demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a team in remote settings carrying out trail maintenance which includes, but is not limited to: brushing; pruning; installing erosion controls; and moving soil and rock with the goal of building and repairing sustainable trails that multiple user groups can enjoy.

Camping fees and/or park entrance fees may be waived for volunteers who are approved to work on BBRSP''s trails.

Current first aid certification encouraged, but not required.

Must adhere to all TPWD policies.

The Buffalo Soldier Heritage and Outreach program is looking for you. The Texas Buffalo Soldiers program provides educational experiences that connect underrepresented populations with the outdoors through interpretive story telling of the Buffalo Soldiers, the country's first professional African American soldiers. The Texas Buffalo Solders program brings history to life with stories, costumes and tools. At one of our programs, you can learn how to track an animal, and fish with a cane pole.

The Buffalo Soldiers program is looking for volunteers of all skills and abilities, including:
- Photographers and videographers
- General program assistance
- Outdoor skill facilitators
- Costumed interpreters.

The State Park Police Career Opportunity Program (COP) volunteer program will provide an opportunity for approved individuals with a demonstrated or sincere interest in conservation law enforcement to gain career or operational knowledge of the State Park Police occupation.

Minimum Requirements: COP volunteers must have a minimum of 60 completed semester credit hours from a college or university.

Below are the rider rules for this program. By signing up for this opportunity, you signify that you have read the rules and agree to follow them during your time with this program.

Dress Code for Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Observers
1. TPWD observers are to dress neatly and conservatively. No Blue jeans of any kind.
2. Cleanliness is required at all times.
3. Hair and facial hair must be well groomed.
4. Shorts and cut-offs are prohibited.
5. Clothing bearing any sign or symbol that advertises any product, business or organization will not be permitted.
6. Clothing with offensive designs, logos, letters or devices is prohibited.
7. Conservative type shoes or boots may be worn; sandals and bare feet are prohibited.

Prohibited Acts:
1. Will not consume alcoholic beverages prior to and during tours of duty.
2. Will not use profane or abusive language during the tour of duty.
3. Will not engage in excessive conversation, which may distract the Officer or interfere with hearing the police radio.
4. Will not make remarks or voice opinions to complainants, witnesses, victims, violators, or suspects in any manner, which would tend to provoke or degrade anyone or escalate tension.
5. Will not be allowed into a private residence during the execution of a search or arrest warrant.
6. Will not make known to any unauthorized person, information that may compromise a police operation, procedure or investigation that is either in progress or proposed.
7. Will not make known to unauthorized persons the identity of persons arrested, persons being confined in jail, or suspects in a criminal act.
8. Will not use information learned during a tour of duty for personal gain.
9. Will not carry weapons of any type. Observers possessing a license to carry a weapon will NOT be allowed to carry a weapon during a tour of duty.
10. Non-sworn observers do not have any powers of an Officer and have no authority except when acting at the direction of an Officer.

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Observers Will:
1. At all times conduct themselves with proper decorum.
2. Remain in the police unit during routine traffic stops unless otherwise instructed by the Officer.
3. Remain in or near the TPWD patrol unit during disturbance calls and calls of a serious nature to summon assistance by radio if needed, unless otherwise instructed by an Officer.

Join our team to help protect this unique and fragile landscape, while providing positive experiences to our visitors.

We have 3 different park host assignments:

1. Interpretive - help create and deliver interpretive programs (birding, hikes, dark skies, Indian Lodge Tour, etc.), clean Interpretive Center, greet guests at Interpretive Center, work with kids on Junior Ranger program.

2. Maintenance - work on various projects (trails maintenance, bird blind maintenance, plumbing, electrical, building repair, sign painting, groundskeeping, etc.).

3. Customer Service - assist park HQ front desk staff (open/close office, manage cash drawer, sell day passes, check camping guests in, answer basic questions about park), assist Black Bear Restaurant staff (work cash register, bus tables, fill drinks at tables).

In addition to these tasks, park hosts are also asked to do the following duties:

- campground checks, bird feeding, light maintenance, grounds upkeep, and assist visitors with after hours check ins.

Please be advised that most of the park doesn't have cell service other than Verizon at HQ. Service is available on the top of Park Road 3A (Skyline Drive) or 4 miles away in Fort Davis. WiFi is usually available at several spots in the park.

A criminal background check is required.
Campground Park Host will be provided with 30/50-amp electrical hook up, water, sewer, washer and dryer.

Park is open to the public from Friday at 8 am to Monday at 5pm.

Do you have a passion for nature and the outdoors? If you enjoy talking and learning about nature and being outside in the beautiful Devils River this opportunity is for you!

Park Ranger will be providing instructional training before outreach programs

As an Outreach Volunteer you will be able to share your passion by assisting with:
Leave No Trace, Fishing 101, Aquatic Science, Aquatic Wild, Native Plant and Wildlife Identification.

We are hoping to have several events in Del Rio, Texas. We will have about 50 students at each event, will divide the lesson/talks/ presentation to about 10-12 students per presentation and rotate them from one presenter to another.

We are looking for capable and self-motivated campground Park Hosts for the remote and beautiful Devils River Del Norte Unit. Park Hosts are required to complete a minimum of 24 volunteer hours per week (32 hours minimum for a couple).

Park Host daily duties include:
- Provide a warm friendly greeting to park's day and overnight visitors.
- Work as Customer Service Representative at Visitor Center.
- Instruct visitors of after hour's registration requirements.
- Direct overnight visitors to camping area and specific sites.
- Clean restroom, shower building and bunkhouse.
-Assist with campsite maintenance.
- Other duties based on interests, skills, and park needs.

Applicants must be 18 years of age and older.
A criminal background check is required.
Campground Park Host will be provided with 30/50 amp electrical hook up, water, sewer, washer and dryer.

Park is open to the public from Friday at 8 am to Monday at 5pm.
