Sponsoring Program: Caprock Canyons State Park
The State Park Volunteer will assist in the preservation and enhancement of Caprock Canyons by contributing to a variety of tasks and responsibilities aimed at maintaining the natural beauty, safety, and visitor experience of the park. Volunteers will work closely with the park staff and fellow volunteers to support the park's mission on conservation, recreation, and public education.
Key Responsibilities:
Visitor Services: Provide general information to park visitors regarding park features, rules, and safety guidelines.
Trail Maintenance: Assist in the upkeep of trails, including clearing debris not limited to maintaining road signage.
Environmental Stewardship: Participate in habitat restoration, invasive species removal, and planting native flora to maintain the park's ecosystem.
Park and Office Clean- Up: Help maintain cleanliness of the park by collecting litter, recycling, and ensuring facilities such as restrooms, picnic areas, and parking lots are clean and functional.
Help Park staff organize paperwork and clean headquarters, and visitor center needed.
Event Assistance: Support park- sponsored educational programs, workshops, and community events, including assisting with setup, registration, and cleanup.
Wildlife Monitoring: Assist in observing and reporting wildlife activity and help with any necessary data collection for research purposes.
General Park Support: Perform other tasks as needed, including helping with maintenance projects, seasonal decorations, or assisting park staff during high visitation times.
Qualifications:
18 years of age or older
Passion for nature, outdoor activities, and environmental conservation.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills and a friendly, customer- service oriented attitude.
Physical ability to perform outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.
Previous volunteer or outdoor experience is preferred but not required.
