Sponsoring Program: Fort Leaton State Historic Site

Presidio High School Students, listen up!
Do you want an opportunity to include volunteer hours on your resume? Are you looking to learn and share about Presidio and Fort Leaton's history? Want to gain skills in public speaking, customer service, and experience with groundskeeping? Look no further than the student docent program at Fort Leaton State Historical Site at Big Bend Ranch State Park!

Duties include but are not limited to:
-Leading guided tours through Fort Leaton highlighting the history of the site in 1850s period dress

-Upkeep and maintenance of Fort through sweeping and dusting, cleaning restrooms, and cleaning of bat guano

-Assisting in interpretive events for the public

-Aiding front desk staff in orienting park visitors to the area, issuing permits, and completing gift shop transactions

-Prospect to acquire skills in adobe work and other authentic historical skill sets tailored to your interests
