Sponsoring Program: Martin Dies, Jr. State Park
Hidden away in deep east Texas, beautiful Martin Dies, Jr State Park is located on the western edge of Jasper county on Lake B.A. Steinhagen. The 11,000 acre lake is teeming with wildlife. It offers many areas to explore by boat, canoe or kayak. Fishing can be great with most anglers landing largemouth bass, crappie and catfish. The plant life is equally impressive with towering pines, oaks and colorful, native ornamentals. Imagine spending your time off paddling through the backwaters, flanked on both sides with cypress trees laden with spanish moss or hiking a trail and experiencing the early morning sounds of song birds. Enjoy all that south east Texas has to offer while volunteering as a park host.
