Seminole Canyon State Park and Historic Site - Park Host Campground

On-site campground Host, a single/couple to volunteer 5 days a week, weekends and certain holidays a must.

Campground host daily duties:
- Provide a warm friendly greeting to park's day and overnight visitors
- Keep up-to-date on current information, including avaliabilty of tours and hazardous weather
- Instruct visitors regarding after-hours self pay stations (Volunteers at this park will not be authorized to handle money)
- Direct overnight users to camping area and specific sites
- Perform campsite checks.
- Clean and sanitize campground Restroom Shower Building.
-Clean campsites and campground.

Depending on applicants experiences, additional duties may include:
- Assist Interpretive Ranger with interpretive on-site activitiies and events
- Be a Texas State Park Promoter - must show positive and reliable decision making to travel by oneself to off-site locations to set up information, education and outreach booths
- Assist with standard maintenance operations.

In exchange for a minium of 24 volunteer hours a week, the park will provide a level concrete pad campsite with 50 amp electric, water and sewage hook-ups. Wi-Fi is provided throughout the park (spotty during inclement weather). A full size refridgerator/freezer and washer and dryer are available at the maintenance building (1 mile from campsite).

Applicant must have the following before a volunteer opportunity offer can be made:
1) successfully pass a Texas-performed criminal background check, and
2) have a valid state driver license and personal vehicle.

Volunteer coordinator will inform potential volunteer of pass/fall criminal background check and will validate your state drivers license and history.

When offer is made and accepted, the applicant will be given training with certifcate for the following:

To drive Texas owned vehicle and UTVs
A) UTV, utility terrain vehicle training
B) National Safety Council's Distracted Driving Course

The park borders along the Rio Grande River (Amistad National Recreation Area), no access into the canyon and private property to the east/north and west, please respect landowners-no venturing onto thier land.
There is an grade k-12th grade public school, gas/fuel station, post office and one famiy-owned resteruant in the town of Comstock,TX: 9 miles to the east.
The nearest place to purchase grocery/provisions, public library, auto mechanic/dealer, docter/hospital/denist and other amenities is Del Rio, TX: 45 miles to the east.
