Interpretive Volunteer- McKinney Falls

Do you have a passion for nature? Do you enjoy working outside? Then volunteering as an Interpretive Volunteer of McKinney Falls State Park is the perfect fit for you. In this role, you can create and lead your own programs, or assist with other programs. Program topics are typically:

  • Guided Hikes (Plant/Tree/Bird ID, etc.)

  • Art in the Park

  • Special Events (Photography, History, Geocaching, etc.)

Positions are available for the weekends, but an occasional week day shift is possible. At a minimum, 3-4 hours of volunteer work per month is required. Please attend a training to learn more!

Volunteers will receive training in interpretation and access to resources and tools to continue to learn about the dynamic natural and cultural resources of the park. **Must sign up to be approved for this opportunity. A criminal background check is required. Minimum age 18 **

McKinney Falls State Park is a lovely park within the Austin city limits. The park's over 970 acres features two waterfalls, over 80 campsites, a dining hall, amphitheater and miles of hiking and biking trails. Visitors enjoy swimming, fishing, wildlife viewing, geocaching, group retreats and a wide variety of trail activities.
