Sponsoring Program: Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center
The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center has an available park host position starting immediately for a 3 month term with options for shorter or longer stays. TFFC is a full-production fish hatchery which focuses primarily on largemouth bass production with raising and stocking of catfish, koi and trout. The aquatic nature center and stocked fishing ponds are under a full remodel looking to reopen in summer of 2025.
The main duties of park hosts may include but are not limited to:
- Independently answering visitor questions and providing excellent customer service
- Assistance with interpretive programming
- Assistance with outreach programming
- Assistance with field trip programming
- Wetlands Trail Maintenance
- Angler Pavilion maintenance
- Grounds maintenance
Park hosts are provided a 50/30 amp full hook-up campsite at an adjacent RV park in exchange for a minimum of 20 volunteer ours per week at TFFC and 5 volunteer hours per week at the adjacent RV park. TFFC is open Tuesday through Sunday in spring/summer and Wednesday though Sunday for fall hours.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Criminal background check is required along with 3 references (character, employment or previous park host). Married couples are welcome to apply together as ample hours are available.
