Sponsoring Program: Caddo Lake State Park
Overview: Caddo Lake State Park is looking for friendly, motivated and energetic Park Hosts to work and live in its beautiful Pineywoods campground. As a Park Host, you will support TPWD's mission by assisting with the day-to-day functions of the park and providing outstanding customer service to park visitors, maintaining the cleanliness of park grounds and facilities, and supporting basic maintenance needs. Qualified and approved applicants will assist with revenue collection at park headquarters on an as-needed basis.
Field Duties Include: This position assists park maintenance staff with day to day operations of a state park. Duties may include maintaining the cleanliness of assigned areas; keeping assigned bathrooms cleaned and stocked; maintaining and cleaning assigned camp loops; operating mowers, weed-eaters; other duties as assigned by maintenance specialist or volunteer supervisor. Position requires standing for long periods of time, carrying, and walking. Shifts may vary, primarily daytime.
Customer Service Duties Include: This position assists park headquarters staff by answering telephones, collecting fees, issuing camping permits, and other duties as assigned by office manager or volunteer supervisor. Position requires sitting for long periods of time, carrying, walking, and standing. Shifts depend on season/park need and may include regular business hours or nights and weekends.
Required Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older. Experience with customer service and ability to effectively communicate with public, other volunteers, and staff; experience with basic maintenance and custodial tasks; criminal background check required.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience using hand tools and basic maintenance equipment; money handling experience
Time Commitment and Benefits: In exchange for a minimum of 24 volunteer hours per week, you are provided with a 50 amp full hook-up campsite. Park Hosts must commit to a minimum one-month stay, though priority will be given to those who can stay three to six months. All training and equipment will be provided. You also receive the opportunity to play a critical role in the conservation and stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of Texas!
