Choke Canyon State Park - Park Host Maintenance - 2020

Sponsoring Program: Choke Canyon State Park

Purpose: To support TPWD's mission by assisting with the day to day functions of the park and providing outstanding service to park visitors, maintaining the cleanliness of park grounds and facilities, and supporting basic maintenance needs.

Time Commitment: Minimum of 24 hours per week. Hosts must make a one-month commitment. After completing the first month, stay time may be extended with approval of Park Superintendent to maximum of 6 months. In exchange, you are provided with a 50/30 amp RV site (sorry, no sewer).

Major Duties:
-Represent TPWD State Parks in a positive manner and supplement the work of park staff.
-Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas, including keeping assigned bathrooms cleaned and stocked and collecting trash from assigned camp loops.
-Assist with maintenance operations as assigned by maintenance specialist or volunteer supervisor. Duties may include mowing, landscaping, trail maintenance or other light maintenance. Notify park staff of any maintenance problems.
-Provide customer service to park visitors, including providing general information and assistance to park visitors.
-Maintain safety standards of park. Do not use any equipment without proper training and sign-off of appropriate staff. Notify staff of any safety concerns. Never engage in law enforcement duties.
-Maintain cleanliness of assigned host site.

-Passion for Texas State Parks.
-Experience with customer service and ability to effectively communicate with public, other volunteers, and staff.
-Experience with basic maintenance and equipment use.
-Essential opportunity functions require sitting for long periods of time, carrying, walking, and standing.
-Criminal background check clearance.
-Ability to maintain campsite as model site.
