Dinosaur Valley SP - Office Assistant 2023 - 2024

Overview: We are looking for someone with strong people skills and a passion for State Parks to join our fantastic team of office clerks at Dinosaur Valley. Our Park sees thousands of visitors every year, all of whom come through our Headquarters Office. This volunteer opportunity is great for anyone looking to meet new people and gain customer service and park operations skills!

This position will assist park staff with various duties that include but aren't limited to:
- General office and clerical duties.
- Answering telephones.
- Registering campers and collecting various fees.
- Orient guests to the natural area - recommend trails, activities, and campsites.
- Communicate general information about the State Park and the nearby attractions.
- Provide excellent customer service to a large number of visitors.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum age of 18 and a criminal background check is required. Volunteers must be comfortable handling money, using computer software, and know simple math.

Preferred Qualifications: Volunteers should be able to provide professional interactions with customers — previous experience with customer service positions and cash handling.

Time Commitment & Benefits: This opportunity is available year-round from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week. There is no minimum requirement for hours. Office Clerk Park Hosts report for volunteer duty at the Park Headquarters Office during office hours and requires a willingness to work any shift on any weekday/weekend, including holidays. Volunteer shifts may be a full day (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break) or a half day. Volunteers can work with the coordinator to create a schedule that is based on the Park''s needs and your availability.

Volunteers are allowed to hang out in the Park after completing their shift for free in exchange for their service. Volunteering with Texas State Parks opens doors to other volunteer opportunities, helps you to develop new skills and improve old ones, and creates lasting memorable experiences for yourself and our visitors.
