Galveston Island State Park- Interpretive Guide Volunteer

Sponsoring Program: Galveston Island State Park

Do you have a passion for nature and the outdoors? Do you love sharing your knowledge with others? If you enjoy talking and learning about nature while soaking in ocean views, this is the opportunity for you!

*Please note that this is NOT a Park Host position, but a general volunteer position.*

Work with the Park Interpreter to present interpretive programs, spend time in the nature center, and create materials for our park visitors that will engage them in learning and caring for nature. Galveston Island State Park needs your skills and enthusiasm!

As an Education/Interpretive Volunteer you could share your passion by assisting with:
-programs for school groups, scouts, and other groups
-guided hikes and nature programs
-special events
-roving interpretation
-helping visitors make connections in the nature center
-virtual programs and education
-maintaining interpretive elements such as gardens and trailheads

While anything can be learned, volunteers best suited for folks with experience presenting to groups and an ability to hike an easy/intermediate trails for 1-2 hours. There is the ability to make your own schedule and even create your own programs if desired.
