Seminole Canyon State Park and Historic Site - Facility/Grounds Maintenance Volunteer

Assist park staff with small scale park projects depending on your skills and experience.
This opportunity includes, but is not limited to, construction, carpentry, electrical, painting, hiking trail maintenance, habitat restoriation, vegatation control and tree clearing.

In exchange for 24 volunteer hours a week, the park will provide a level concrete pad campsite with 30/50 amp electric, water/sewage hook-ups and WI-FI. A full size refridgerator/freezer and washer and dryer is located nearby (site is beside our maintenance building).

-This is a minimum 1 month commitment, which may be extended as needed
-Off duty days maybe assigned based on needs of the park.

Applicants must have the following before a volunteer offer can be made:
1) successfully pass a Texas-performed criminal background check
2) have a valid U.S. state driver license.

Volunteer coordinator will inform potential volunteer of pass/fail criminal background check and will validate your state driver license and history.

When offer is made and accepted, the applicant will be given training with certification for the following:

To drive a park-owned vehicle and UTVs
A) UTV, utility terrain vehicle training
B) National Safety Council's Distracted Driving Course
C) Other training such as chainsaw operations and First AID/CPR/AED.

This is a semi-isolated park that borders along the Rio Grande River (Lake Amistad National Recreation Area), no access into the canyon and private property to the east, north and west. Please repsect landowners-no veturing onto thier land.
There is a grade school K-12th public school, gas/fuel station, post office and two-owned cafes in the town of Comstock, 9 miles to the east of the park.
The nearest place to purchase grocery/provisions, public library, auto mechanic/ denist/doctor/hospitals is Del Rio, about 45 miles to the east of the park.
