Sponsoring Program: Garner State Park
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the beautiful and busy Garner State Park.
During your stay, take advantage of the Frio Canyon's scenic beauty, wildlife, and crystal-clear waters of the Frio River.
This position is open for 1 to 6 months. In exchange for 24 hours of volunteer work per week, we'll provide you with a full hookup site (50 amp) for your RV.
the main duties/expectations of a maintenance host are:
· Attend daily Maintenance Meeting at 8:00 a.m. on scheduled days
· Assist with projects in the field related to regular maintenance and repair of facilities
· Interact with park visitors in a courteous and professional manner
· ALL park hosts are expected to assist with litter pickup in day use
· Collect cans from recycling bins and transport to trailer at maintenance area
· Maintain assigned campsite in compliance with park rules and regulations
· Communicate after hours needs/issues to appropriate park staff/law enforcement
Other duties may include:
· Mowing/weed eating grounds
· Trimming/pruning trees
· Sign painting
· Screen repair on shelters
· Trail Maintenance
· Picnic table assembly
· Painting/Pressure washing facilities and buildings
· Minor Repairs to facilities and buildings to include minor plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work (training will be provided as required)
· Tree trimming in mowed areas and around buildings
· Assist field staff with special projects as required
· Assist with bathroom cleaning as required
FYI: Only AT&T cell service is available in the park, and wireless internet is available at 2 park locations. Our water is very hard (full of calcium and minerals) and will likely require you to install additional water filters on your RV.
